چکیده

This paper presents methods for adding optional software components to a Distributed Real-Time Embedded (DRE) deployment optimization problem, and methods for attempting to enable deployment of the maximal number of optional software components. By building upon prior work that allows rapid deployment optimization, one can predict probability of success with high confidence, and utilize that information to generate a lower bound on number of times deployment of an optional component should be attempted. This paper also introduces three algorithms for selecting which optional components should be attempted in a deployment, and experimental data which shows that the order in which optional components are considered has a high impact on the maximal number of optional components that can be included in a deployment. Keywords-deployment, optional software components, distributed real-time embedded systems

Optimal Deployment of Distributed Systems

As our world becomes more interconnected, there is an increasingly important role for distributed computer system. Designing these systems is not an easy task. Progress has been made in this regard with the development of formal specification languages and verification tools. One area that is usually not addressed is the deployment of a system. This is unfortunate as the deployment can be criti...

Multi-objective Optimization Approach for Wireless Sensor Networks Deployment in Three Dimensional Environments

With the emergence of wireless networking paradigm, several optimization problems are showing their usefulness to the efficient design of such networks. These problem are related, among others, to optimizing network connectivity, coverage and stability. The resolution of these problems turns out to be crucial for optimized network performance. In the case of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), such...

Multi-Objective Optimization for Multi-Product Multi-Period Four Echelon Supply Chain Problems Under Uncertainty

The multi-objective optimization for a multi-product multi-period four-echelon supply chain network consisting of manufacturing plants, distribution centers (DCs) and retailers each with uncertain services and uncertain customer nodes are aimed in this paper. The two objectives are minimization of the total supply chain cost and maximization of the average number of products dispatched to custo...

Solving a New Multi-objective Inventory-Routing Problem by a Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm

This paper considers a multi-period, multi-product inventory-routing problem in a two-level supply chain consisting of a distributor and a set of customers. This problem is modeled with the aim of minimizing bi-objectives, namely the total system cost (including startup, distribution and maintenance costs) and risk-based transportation. Products are delivered to customers by some heterogeneous ...

Nonstationary Function Optimization using the Structured Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, we describe the application of a new type of genetic algorithm called the Structured Genetic Algorithm (sGA) for function optimization in nonstationary environments. The novelty of this genetic model lies primarily in its redundant genetic material and a gene activation mechanism which utilizes a multi-layered structure for the chromosome. In adapting to nonstationary environment...
